Access is matter-based: every document belongs to exactly one matter (or project), and you see a matter only if you have been granted membership on it. Documents carry an append-only version history — every upload adds a new, immutable version with its own SHA-256, size and uploader — with per-matter viewer / editor / owner access levels.
